Our Story

OWER: Going Beyond

In Scots, “ower” means “over”. For us, it means going beyond travel itself, to rediscover the meaning of human connection.

That is what happened when two strangers met on a train, started a deep conversation, and became friends, then founders.

One of them has been a tour manager for more than ten years, constantly on the road. His nickname is Trip.

The other once saw his two closest relationships end. The silence that followed taught him how much we need each other. He didn’t know it yet, but the idea of OWER was born from that silence.

Keep the journey going

We built OWER to give the connections you make while traveling a place to continue. Here is how it works:

  1. 1

    Join

After a journey with us, you can join the Inner Circle.

  2. 2

    Connect

Share your thoughts and stories, suggest topics, and earn recognition for what you bring.

  3. 3

    Open

Everyone can read the stories, and anyone can join the Community to comment.

The word community comes from the Latin communitas: what people hold in common. Today it is used for followers, subscribers and mailing lists. We would like to live up to its origin.

Alone, we were easy prey. Together, we shaped the planet. What changed?

Many historians argue it was our ability to unite, cooperate and share stories. Today we have more ways to reach each other than ever, yet it is easy to forget how much we need to meet and stay connected.

OWER

Look at the word: right at its center lies WE. Connection begins when Me becomes WE.

How? Through communication, from the Latin communicare: to make common, to share. It means exchanging experiences, ideas and perspectives, even when they differ, to enrich each other.

We don’t claim to have mastered conversation. We believe it can be trained together. Practice with us, on the journey and afterwards in the Inner Circle.

Together, we can make loneliness a little rarer.

We don’t just plan trips, we go OWER.
